Default Panthers sale

Yahoo sports,SB nation, is reporting that the Panthers have a buyer but no information is available on who the buyer maybe. Sounds sort of fishy because of the lack of specific information, however if they do have a buyer you have to wonder if they are in south Florida or from somewhere else. I liked the picture that went with the article showing an empty arena for their preseason game last Friday, even though the game was at 2 pm on a work day...what stupid scheduling. Anyway, let the prognostication begin.
Josh Kosman of the NY Post is the reporter who broke the original story on the sale.

It's being reported the buyers are based in New York.

Anyone catch Olbermann last night? He showed video from the Panthers' most recent exhibition. It was delicious. There were literally a handful of fans in the "crowd." Love to see that kind of noteriety.

I honestly surprised the owners are selling. From what I had been reading the team itself was in the red(as most teams are) but they were making bank off of the arena and the surrounding land(as most teams do). Are they selling outright or is a new investor buying in?

From what I understand listening to a Miami reporter, the team didn't advertise or publicize the game. It was noticed as a practice.

I told you how badly the Panther organization handled rookie camp last week. I think this is less of an indictment of the fans and another total failure of the Panther organization. They had the opportunity to reward their fans and try and make new fans by having a free fan fest type activity. And in typical panther style, they screwed it up.

I may be alone, but this isn't just the Panthers problem. I am on the NHL mailing list (or was as of free agency), and I had no idea preseason started this past weekend til a friend at work told me about it. I still have no clue when the Lightning play their first game (no email from them either). Anyways, NFL preseason games at night are half full. I bet you throw one on during a work day and you may have a fourth of the people. The way people are jumping on this is just ridiculous.

Former head of the NY Mercantile Exchange is the alleged buyer. Has residences in NYC and W Palm Beach, and goes to lots of Panther games already.

For the Bolts' sake I hope they stay in Florida.
