He had a great year in 11-12, but was superceded on the depth chart by Regehr and the emergence of Muzzin. Depending on what's given up, could be worth it, but he's by no means an established top 4 defender. Would be a big risk with the current D core.

Zo I thought I saw him play in game 1 because I watched him and Muzzin. Muzzin made a couple of mistakes and he sat for awhile but Martinez played ok. I do not remember seeing him after that but did not really look for him. Of course maybe I just misread the names if so my mistake.

At first I thought, since this is after all NBC we're talking about, that they really had ranked the Lightning #1 in the National Football League

This was music to my eyes:

St. Louis Blues #30?! Really?

Default M & m

Muzzin played 17 games during the playoffs and Martinez played 7 according to the Kings website. I am trying to check if Martinez played in game 3 or 4 against the Hawks, the game I saw was being played in LA, so I am trying to track down the roster for those games. Muzzin might be a better fit and add some toughness, but I doubt the Kings take Malone off our hands.

Kings have an average of $1.3M in cap per roster slot available, with still about 4 slots open. I wouldn't think they'd be interested in adding Malone's cap hit. Maybe... maybe... if we retain the max 50% of his salary/cap. Not something I think Yzerman would be willing to do.

With the Kings losing Scuderi, I can't imagine them trading away one of their defensemen. They don't have anyone to take their place if they traded one.
