Gawd, and this is a town with its own NHL team for 46 years!

Guess we got a long row to hoe down here for sure

St Louis doesn't have transplants loyal to their old teams either.

Awesome. Now i only the Lightning's promotion's staff could do that, except make it work against a dozen teams

Nice smiley there, RS

Should probably be the unofficial smiley of the Lightning's upcoming campaign

I hate to say it, but "transplants" don't have as much to do with the fans as I think the creation of DirecTV.

DirecTV allows you to be a fan of whomever you'd like, no longer having to settle for just the home team.

I think satellite's have hurt local sports fan support much more.

Unfortunately Florida doesn't have any real "back in the day" arguments, as the area didn't have any teams "back in the day", aside from the Bucs, who had transplant fans of other teams all over the place, but now have their own fan base.

Moving to Florida from another city, doesn't mean you have to stop being a fan of your previous home team, and the satellite packages make it that much easier.

If the Lightning get to being an elite team and competing for championships every season, that will sort itself out. In fact, I dare say, with Stamkos and Drouin as the two offensive stars and their positioning in the new division, Tampa Bay may become everyone in Ontario and Quebec's second favorite team and you might see quite a few of our jerseys popping up in other arenas.
