Any word on the $?

BTW, this is sending Aulie a message. Keep moving forward or you're gone.

Mike Corcoran reports it's $975K, one year, one-way.

I dunno... I think that's your opinion of Aulie talking and not the facts of the contract talking. He got a $400k raise and a one-way contract. While it is only one-year, that's less of a warning message and more of "we like what you're doing, so keep it up." Last year's one-year, two-way deal at near league minimum and only $60k AHL salary was the warning statement. My take is message received, heard, and rewarded.

Will he be a UFA or RFA when his contract expires?

A 1 year deal is never a glowing mandate. I think they've invested a lot in the guy, don't have a heckuva lot better sitting in Syracuse, and figure they're not going to find a much better #7 d-man for what little Aulie makes, so they'll give him another season to try to develop.

Not saying the org thinks he's the 2nd coming and I wouldn't describe Aulie's contract as "a glowing mandate", but with the 10% required raises for QO's, you don't hand out raises like that to guys who are on the bubble list. Next year he making $1M+. I get your understanding if he gets a raise from $577k to $650k. But a bump to $975k? Nah, not buying the "we got nothing better to spend $400k on" reason.
