I think this just fits their MO of always being on the lookout for good undrafted free agents they believe can develop into NHLers. Evidently Suri's game is very translatable to the style we play here, and mych like they haven't been scared off Russians, they clearly don't mind the Swiss Factor either.

Two parts - one, probably, two, you can never have too many assets. Too many contracts, sure, but never too many assets.

The contract with Reto Suri is now void. He couldn't get out of his Swiss contract after the Swiss Federation decided not to take part in the IIHF transfer agreement. Was rejected.

Still, Suri was with the Lightning for an eternity!

Beautiful.

When does his contract end with Zug? Perhaps we sign him after that..?

I thought the Swiss were always neutral in conflicts

Anyways, I thought his deal didn't kick in until next year. So how does the transfer agreement apply if his contract hadn't started yet? Or is it a case that he couldn't sign a contract here b/c he already had one there?

Too bad. Maybe we can revisit Suri later?

In other Euro thoughts -- how do we get Linus Omark's rights from EDM? I heard he wants to try the NHL again after destroying the Swiss-A league to the tune of 69 points (17G, 52A) in 48 games this past season.

I know we don't exactly need forwards, but this guy can play and there's no room for him with the Oil.
