Within the next month or so the Crosstown connecter to east and west I-4 will be finished. You will be able to hop the crosstown and hit I-4 within minutes.

The Rays can only dream that they will get 50,000 to a game.

Hockey plus baseball on the same night could be 50k though. It'd only be an issue for the days they overlap, however.

I'm sure Mr. Vinik could get the NHL and MLB to have some bend when it comes to the schedules since he is an owner with one and a minority owner with the other. Then he would also have some pull with MLB if he was able to help them get the Rays out of St. Pete.

If the Rays are near the Forum, the market for the condos in that area will absolutely skyrocket. Once Channelside complex gets a re-start, and then Vinik and partners get their "entertainment" area going, you won't recognize the energy that downtown Tampa will have. Throw in a state of the art ball field, and you've really got something..

I've been very envious of St. Pete for a few years now..Central ave, and Beach drive and the whole area. I hope Vinik's vision comes to fruition!!!

That would be great. Although Vinik might decide to knock down half of downtown Tampa to build a bigger house

And I'd lose my seventy five cents a game parking space.

And I am sure one of the teams could always change their start time. It would be great to watch an afternoon baseball game and then walk across the street for hockey.

Exactly. You're talking about a few overlap days a year. And daytime starts happen often with mid-week getaway games.

And I think 40-50,000 fans is a reasonable projection even in the unlikely scenario that both teams were playing at around the same time. With some adjustments to infrastructure and traffic light patterns, it could work well enough ... for the rare times it ever were to occur.
