Best play by play guy in the whole league. We are spoiled.

Team him with Darryl Raugh (sp?) in Dallas and that's the #1 pair in the league.

Nope. He is essentially the modern-day standard against which all PBP announcers should be measured

Yeah, and like Doc Emrick, Reaugh also brings the vocabulary variety to every game...who knew a save could be so mastodonic?

Speaking of Emrick, a guy named Derek Zona who does little else has watched enough of every broadcast team to write a report ranking them from worst to first at http://www.sbnation.com/2011/7/8/225...s-commentators. Even though he's unable to recognize the pure professionalism and excellence of Rick Peckham and nonsensically paints him with Chief's homerism in giving the pair 2 stars out of 5, it's an entertaining read. One link takes the reader on a ride to another post of his about Emrick specifically, whom he also gives 2 stars, where he reveals this humorous compendium:
Quote:
Today, with the help of some followers on Twitter, I bring you a list of words used by Doc Emrick in place of "passed" or "shot":

budged, cracked, curled, dented, edged, fed, finessed, filtered, fired, fleshed, flexed, flipped, floated, flopped, forced, glassed, guided, hoisted, hooked, jabbed, jai-alai'ed, knifed, laid, lasered, lassoed, layered, led, lifted, lobbed, looped, nubbed, nudged, pitchforked, punched, pushed, rifled, rolled, rubbed, rushed, sashayed, scorched, shaken, shoved, shuffled, shunted, skittered, skyhooked, slipped, sped along, spun, squeezed, squibbed, squibbled, stabbed, stashed, stoked, swaggered, thrown, trickled, twirled, twisted, wanded, wedged, wended, worked.
...to which one astute reader remarked, "No love for Waffleboarded?"

Other comments are pretty funny too...check it out at http://www.coppernblue.com/2011/5/24...cks-vocabulary

(No threadjack intended, should've probably started a new topic...back to Ducks & Wings, and other tasty food)

Weather Service meteorologist Michael Garrison said it was the coolest temperature Montgomery had experienced in July, [tying] the record that Montgomery experienced on July 20, 2009. This was the third round of record-setting lows the area has seen this July.

Damn another of our geographic neighbors (according to Butthead divisional logic) advances.

There goes one of my finals picks. Guess it'll be the Hawks then.
