Default Lightning Acquire LW Philippe Paradis for D Kirill Gotovets

From the team site: http://lightning.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=663632

For the Lightning: Philippe Paradis, a 27th overall pick by the Hurricanes in 2009. He has yet to play in the NHL. He has been playing with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, going 1-7-8 with 100 PIM in 36 games. He also played 5 games for the ECHL Toledo Walleye.

For the Blackhawks: Kirill Gotovets, the Lightning's 2009 seventh-round pick, and current student at Cornell.

Paradis was a project power forward who simply never developed, and should have never been a first round pick. I remember when that pick was taken everyone but the Canes were completely shocked.

Chicago probably wanting to clear a contract off the books ahead of tomorrow's deadline, and the Bolts already know they had no intention of offering Gotovets a contract a year from now when he graduates (and neither will the Blackhawks).

He was signed to an ELC in 2010 by Toronto and then traded to the Hawks, who sent him back to PEI for an overage year, so his ELC slid until the 2011-12 season. So, he's under ELC until the end of the 2014 season.

Paradis won the Hardest Shot competition at the 2009 CHL Top Prospects Skills Competition with a slapshot that measured 95.7 miles per hour.

Paradis was selected just ahead of Carter Ashton in the 2009 draft.

Yeah, at one point they were going to be the Peckers (no I'm not kidding). Walleye are the major fish caught in the river and bay up here, so there is a tie. That said, most wanted the Storm back.

Default Walleye

A walleye is a fresh water fish common to the Midwest. From what I hear they are good eating... Although I don't know from personal experience.

Yeah, they are really good, especially fried. Think of Walleye up here like Grouper in Florida (not the taste, but just in how it is thought of).

Spoke with Paradis. Very excited to get out of Rockford. It's a move up in standings and he didn't get along with IceHogs coach Dent
