Default Marc-Andre Bergeron Traded to Carolina

Marc-Andre Bergeron not on the ice in Tampa. He should be traded today. #RDS
EDIT: Bergeron to the Hurricanes, per Renaud Lavoie

If Bergeron gets moved, I'll update this topic.

Haven't seen too much in the way of rumors about Bergeron, but trying to get something for him makes sense from the Lightning's standpoint, as he's fallen off the depth chart.

A top 60 pick would be nice, but I doubt it given how little he has played.

His standard of a 3rd round pick seems more likely, but who knows what the market for him is like.

Bergeron has been traded to Carolina.

(Note to the mods -- I edited the thread title, which shows up here when I open the thread, but not on the main forum index page. Strange.)

My guess is they want Adam Hall back for when they send a few of the kids down to Syracuse for the AHL playoffs.

How fucking stupid. Should have just waived MAB if this was all they were going to do.

With Vinny possibly coming back on Thursday, now the forwards are a little cramped, no?

Even if they do send some down for Syracuse, I just don't get the logic of waiving a guy, just to trade someone else to get him back.

That's probably a good thing. Get some of the kids back down for the AHL run.

Wonder how many contracts Carolina has? Are they at the 50 limit?

Either way we save some $ on this as MAB's salary was somewhere around $1.5M and Hall's is around 500k if I remember correctly

I doubt that was the plan when they waived him. Yzerman probably gambled on passing him through waivers so he'd have the flexibility with the roster. With the re-acquisition, I'm guessing Yzerman really didn't like losing him to waivers.

This should also give you some idea of Bergeron's worth -- a 7th + a 4th liner.

Now... the real question in my mind is with Thompson, Crombeen, Tyrell, and Pyatt all under multi-year deals, I can't imagine Yzerman has any intention of extending Hall beyond this season. He is up for a new contract this summer, and normally I would think Hall is gone, but... surely the re-acquisition of him is to just fill out the roster until the end of the season, right? I shouldn't be reading any more into this, right?

The plot thickens.

Yzerman says Hall will go on waivers at noon. If he clears he goes to Syracuse.
