Nikita Nesterov assisted on Albert Yarullin's game winning goal 4:50 into overtime as Russia snuck past Slovakia 3-2. Nesterov has been named an assistant captain for Russia in the tournament. Slovakia forced overtime with a dramatic power play goal with 36 seconds left in regulation by Richard Mraz, but could not finish the comeback in the overtime session. Nikita Kucherov scored the game opening goal for Russia and was second on Team Russia in shots on goal with 4. Goaltender Andrey Vasilevskiy (pictured) was named Russia's player of the game after the match. Russia plays Team USA next on Friday.

I'm waiting for the IIHF to post the final stats, but Tanner Richard had 3 assists in this morning's game against Latvia, so all of our prospects except Sergeev found the scoresheet, or in the case of Vasilevskiy played really well, in their opening matches.

Sergeev is on the board early in the 3rd period for Russia with a helper against USA, so 2 games in, all our guys have found the scoresheet. Nesterov already has an assist in the game.

Richard was held off in Switzerland's game against Sweden earlier, though.
