Heard today on 620 that Yzerman has attempted to contact him and is waiting for a response. There's your final top 6 forward, adds much needed grit to boot if he agrees to sign. Couldn't be happier with the way the team is shaping up.

I'd love it. It would make us true contenders and give us a good vet presence. I think it'd be wonderful, hope he signs here.

There was a rumor Yzerman reached out to him but it seems like Shane wants to stay out West. I would love to have him on the team though. Between him, Vinny, Marty, and Stamkos they'd will the team straight to the Cup.

Yzerman attempted to contact him, one would assume with a contract offer. He hasn't returned calls, so he probably isn't interested. Things could change though...still gotta like that Yzerman is trying to upgrade.

The best you can do at the moment is at least reach out, especially now that Doan has extended his "decision" until the 16th, at least. I'd be alright with a 1-2 year signing.

I was originally optimistic, but his desire to stay west seems to be too strong to overcome. Was he not Vinny & Marty's linemate in Calgary in '06? It's possible still that SY is staying on the outside and letting those two do the work since they most likely talk to Doan directly versus he through the agent. We offer a winter climate his family is more accustomed to, plus the opportunity to be reunited with those guys plus Stammer. Ya never know.
