Teddy has a significant chance to become a point per game player in our top 6. If he makes that jump and builds off of last year, this deal is a steal.

More than I was expecting, but glad to have him back and he can always be dealt later.

The risk of waiting until mid-year is more to do with the increased probability of his testing the market, where he is likely to field multiple multi-year deals.

I would have thought extending him would have gotten us a cheaper rate than what we saw in free agency, for Hudler.
Hudler's a few years older and got an extra year. This deal locks up TP through what may be the few prime years he has left and so comes at a premium. The cap hit could have been lowered by tacking on years but that means reduced long-term roster flexibility.

If he can stay where he's been, it's a pretty fair deal. If he continues to play like when he's hot it could be a steal. Considering this is the kind of money I would have thrown at an FA, I'm pretty OK with it.

The thoughts can only be expessed with a musical tribute.

Percy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpbbuaIA3Ds he's got those homey money blues.

Yikes - now if he played something on the north side of 65 games a year this is a deal for the bolts. Otherwise it's just a lovely little chunk of change for the boy.

That Newfo caviar will be tasting real sweet...

I think we can now safely call him the newest member of Yzerman's core group of young(ish?) players. Hope he finds that consistency over 82 games to justify the raise.
