As I understand it, Center Ice is owned by a 3rd party and the NHL doesn't have the ability to give it away.

I understand that one, but gamecenter is not owned by a third party. And I'm curious what Bettman has planned, since he made that statement. I'm not sure what they pay the third party/get paid (or if they could have struck a deal where the NHL pays X number of dollars to let it be free), but with the Jets management saying that they made money last year, but will be way in the black this year because of their new deal and Bettman's statement that he had major things in the works for the fans, I hope that the only thing done is not a couple teams lowering ticket prices a bit.
