EliteProspects, citing a Finnish newspaper, says the Lightning are interested in bringing back Riku Helenius, but Riku wants a 1-year deal (expected) and has offers from multiple KHL clubs.

I would give him a 1-way. If he doesn't make the club out of camp then loan him to the KHL and have him try again next year.

I wouldn't give him the 1-way contract. If you give him a 1-way contract than you have to give tic one, too.

This X 1000. We have Garon as backup and two great kids in the AHL right now, I don't see how bringing Riku over on a 1-way helps our situation.

I don't think Riku is going to be the "savior" or the "this is THE move" move that Yzerman in planning, but you gotta have contingencies in case your top choices don't work out. I'd be ok with Helenius getting a 1 year 1 way deal with a Euro out-clause. Hell, I'd be happy with that.

Why would we have to give Tic a 1-way?
Let's face it, the only interest we have in Riku is if he can play here right now. A 2-way is pointless. Let him go back to Europe if he's still not good enough. I'm interested in a look see. |

This, plus wasn't the plan(according to us) for Tic to spend another year in the AHL before either he or Janus is brought up for backup duty?

The SM-Liiga editor of Jatkoaika.com just tweeted that Helenius has made a deal with Tampa.
