Florida opened their Kelly Cup Finals series with Las Vegas by outshooting the Wranglers 33-23, but falling on the scoreboard, 2-1. Las Vegas took a 2-0 lead in the second period, and although Florida cut the lead to one with two minutes left in the game, they couldn’t get the equalizer. The game featured a brawl of sorts at the end of the second period that involved Lightning prospect Charles Landry and former Lightning draft pick Kevin Quick. Las Vegas goaltender Joe Fallon was named first star for stopping 32 of 33 shots. Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson was among those involved in pre-game festivities. Game 2 is Tuesday night in Las Vegas.
