The Rays thing would have been weird, since Vinik is a minority owner of the Red Sox...

As it stands now, there is no conflict. Not necessarily weird, kinda is, but potentially owning an entertainment block and capitalizing on (if it happens) Rays Baseball coming to downtown on a business front is sound.

He can certainly divest himself of his percentage in the Red Sox... sure there'll be some hefty ROI. Hell, with the way things are shaping up in Red Sox Nation, would not at all be shocked if he's quietly seeking to do that right now

If he were to buy the Rays I'm sure he'd be forced to sell off his ownership stake in the Red Sox

Yes he would. But from what I hear his stake is very very small.

Vinik's bid has been chosen by the Irish bank. The bank now has sent the bid to officals with the Tampa Port Authority.

Also the Tribune is reporting that Mr. Vinik is moving part of his New England operation to Tampa.

Cool. I really hope Vinik get's Channelside and makes it a better place to hang out before/after games. As of now, I feel that Hooters is really the only place I've gone to down there in a while.

Nope, but the photos look absolutely amazing. Never seen anything like it before in the NHL.
