Vinik & Channelside

Well in a report that is now up on TBO Bill Wickett has confirmed one rumor and said another is not true.

First he said that they have been approach to take over Channelside. He said they are not interested.

And Mr. Vinik to buy the Rays he said was unfounded and untrue.

I wouldn't try to read into much that's discussed publicly one way or the other.

I mean, even if Vinik has designs on acquiring the Rays, it's likely going to be a lengthy process. I can't imagine Vinik taking over ownership without St. Pete agreeing to release the Rays from the Trop lease agreement in return for substantial compensation and who knows how long it would take for a deal to be struck.

From what I've read, seems like the Channelside rumors somehow got mixed into some Rays wishful thinking and became one big rumor mess.
