Default Lightning Vs. Islanders (3/24/12)

The Tampa Bay Lightning (33-33-7) take on The New York Islanders (30-32-11) tonight at 7:00pm.

Quote:
Last 10: New York 4-4-2; Tampa Bay 4-5-1

Ryan Malone has 13 points (4g, 9a) in his last 17 games.

Malone scored his first NHL goal (with Pittsburgh) against the Islanders on 10/29/03 and his first Lightning goal came against the Islanders on 10/16/08.

Teddy Purcell has 26 points (7g, 19) over his past 17 games.

Steven Stamkos has 11 points (7g, 4a) over his past 12 games.

The Bolts are 20-0-2 when allowing two or fewer goals in a game this season.

The home team has won all three games in the teams’ season series. The Lightning are 1-2-0 so far against the Islanders.

Tampa Bay is 9-1-3 at home against the Islanders since the 2004-05 NHL Lockout.

The Lightning’s Dwayne Roloson, Eric Brewer, Tim Wallace, Trevor Smith, Bruno Gervais, Nate Thompson and Marc-Andre Bergeron are all former Islanders.

Tampa Bay assistant coach Dan Lacroix was an assistant coach with the Islanders from 2006-09.

Steven Stamkos and John Tavares were selected first overall in consecutive years, in 2008 and 2009, respectively.

New York’s Nino Niederreiter and Tampa Bay’s Brett Connolly were taken with consecutive draft picks, fifth and sixth overall, in 2010.

Martin St. Louis scored the series-clinching goal in overtime of Game 5 of the 2004 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Islanders, in the teams’ only prior playoff meeting.

Wow. Just.....I mean...wow.

Nearly equaling the 31 points in his previous 55 games. At the current pace over the entire season, he'd be at 110 points by now.

Besides wow, "Where yuh been till now" comes to mind too--as with Stamkos's vanishing act last season after hitting 40 g, maybe some hidden injury...?? Whatever, glad he's hitting on all cylinders now...hope they can keep him
