I was just wondering if and when the Bolts are planning to sign Conacher? I keep seeing this kids name popping up on the score sheet for the Ads and I'm wondering why he hasn't been asked to sign on the dotted line yet? I understand the kid isn't too big but he's putting up numbers regardless and the Bolts have shown a small guy can do big things (MSL 26). I was just wondering if there was any insight into this because if he keeps playing the way he is I'm sure there will be plenty of teams looking to sign him in the off season.

Yeah, the team has said we will sign him. However, (not 100% sure of the issue) they have until July 1st to sign him exclusively, and due to contract limits right now from my understanding, they are going to wait until the offseason. We've told his agent we intend on signing him, so it's really just a matter of waiting. I assume he's in the mix for next season to make the Lightning roster.

There was a local article about this last week also: Lightning loves surging prospect

I was told it could be around March or so. Not by the team, but from an well-connected individual.

Yup. That sounds about right. I wouldn't be surprised if it slips to April. My guess is they have some more pressing decisions on going after some undrafted guys like Seth Griffith. They may even be in a bidding war with other teams. There is absolutely no rush to sign Conacher.

I just hope that time doesn't run out and they end up losing this kid. To be just 20 or so and stepping into the AHL and playing that way is a great sign. I would imagine it wouldn't take him too long to adjust to the NHL game. Considering the real lack of scoring depth in the organization it's imperative to lock this kid up before someone else does. Would be nice to see him and Ashton bring more scoring depth and ability to the Bolts in the next couple of years. Now just gotta work on depth on D and in net. Mr. Y has his work cut out for him.

Well, with Yzerman directly saying "I fully intend on signing him", i think there's somewhat of a likely chance.

No one else can sign him until July
1, so plenty of time. Of course, you don't want to wait too long and give the agent the idea to test free agency.

Just to also clarify from the main page. Another Tampa Bay propect won a medal in the WJC....Tyler Johnson won the GOLD for the US in 2010. He also was awarded one of three MVPs....
