Teams have won with subpar goalie behind a strong D and explosive offense(Osgood,Niemi, ect). The goaltending issue is something that would be better addressed in the offseason. I'm not ready to quit on this season but the problem is so obvious... our defense is weak, not intimidating, and lacks a solid thought process. Think about if we could grab a solid guy who plays 18-20 mins a night and then maybe a hard hitting guy to replace Ohlund... I'm sure they will make Roloson and Garon look a lot better then they are now.

I'm not saying you're wrong I just don't see any goalie deals going on at this point. Could you tell me what type of deal you were expecting to pick a G up and who you think we should target in that trade?
Those "subpar" goalies, had either HOF and All-Star defenders, or they had a group of young talented kids all hitting their stride at the same time.

The Lightning have neither.

Jhonas Enroth - Buffalo
Corey Schneider - Vancouver
Ben Bishop - St. Louis
Leland Irving - Calgary
Matt Hackett - Minnesota

Those are the only 5, I'd make consider deals for at this time.

I like Bernier a bit in Los Angeles, but there's not enough consistancy from him yet.

SY would be asked to bend over a log and squeal like a pig. Not his style.

Nothing is free in this world. You have to pay to get better. So unless they give Tokarski or Koshechkin a shot, that's what they have to do. So if you're going to spend the asset's to get better, you spend them on the one position that can win you games, goaltender.

I'd start with a 2nd round pick and a player (forward) , that way the hole can be filled by Norfolk, either Jones, Conacher, or Ashton can be brought up and make sure nobody will go for that deal. At the worst, you know where you stand. But if you wait till the trade deadline or off-season, other teams might be willing to give up more, and we know the Lightning won't get into those type's of negotiations. Then we're back to square one, looking for another retread, failure looking for one last shot, or a back-up they hope can squeeze out one more season.

Lightning holiday party for Children's Cancer Center http://video.lightning.nhl.com/video...id=0&id=143510

Very cute (of course), but also you can see Marty several times, looks fine except for a band-aid on his nose & he has his glasses on.

DC had an online chat today, answered questions about prospects, goalie, all kinds of things. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/lightn...-1230-thursday

DC pointed out something I think is really important in the chat, and that is the idea of letting our lines develop chemistry instead of always switching them up. When we have been at our best, that is what happens. And you can go back even a few years to our terrible years, and that was a constant (we were never leaving lines together). I think that is a bigger deal than it is made out to be.

Another reason why I see the team slipping away from him....
