I think the DiPietro contract may the worst in the history of the NHL in terms of value he's earned. The Islanders can't afford to buy him out. It would handcuff the franchise for the next 20 years. They're still going to be paying Yashin for like 4 more years. They have to eat DiPietro's contract and hope someday he can earn that money.

Or Halak... anyone still know what Bishop's potential is slated to be? He's already 25 years old, and I remember at one point he was supposed to be damn good.

He's 6'7". He could just stay in butterfly and cover most of the net

Seems Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon says the school and the NHL are discussing bringing the Winter Classic to Michigan Stadium. The game would take place at Michigan Stadium on 01/01/2013. Michigan Stadium can hold 110,000 fans. Brandon says the teams would be the Leafs vs Wings.

So far the NHL has no comment on the 2013 game.

Sabres getting pumped in Chicago. In Lindy we trust, in Leino we fall.

There was an article on him just recently on the AHL's website. Basically he's says he's ready, others say he's ready, was kinda put off he was sent to Peoria but understands it's the business. Also, being a hometown kid perhaps the expectations to play in your hometown and not getting the full nod, well... I'll dig it up later.

He's 25, so he's in that age bracket of vine-ripen and ready to bust out.

I've always liked his game, especially the last 3 seasons. Started paying attention towards the end of his tenure with the Black Bears (U of Maine). He's big but he's quick and athletic too. So-so puck handler. At times handles the puck like Smitty, other times... like Roli.

Other than a "win now" situation in St Louis with their impending sale (signing Elliott), I never got why they sent him down. Jake Allen no doubt is knocking on his door too.

Only making $105K in the A ($600K cap hit - RFA this summer).

I'm not saying he's the answer or the diamond in the rough we've been looking for to be a number one right off the bat (or 1b) but... if SFY's mission statement is depth-depth-depth, well I'd like to see him added to list of options to be brought here (along with a list of other potential netminders) for that very purpose.

Glance of his numbers

AHL - 4 seasons, including this season

150 gp - 74-68-8 / 2.54 gaa - .910 sv%

NHL - 2 seasons

13 gps - 4-5-1 / 2.85 gaa - .895 sv%

ADD:

Bishop Still On track to NHL

Yes. From what I saw, they are indeed a "fragile" team right now. Similar to the Bolts I'd say. Too much dipsy do and weak defensive play along the walls.

That said, perhaps our boys are ready to get on with it...maybe...
