Canucks trade Samuelsson & Sturm to the Turds for Booth, Reinprecht, and a 3rd in 2013

The Vancouver Canucks acquired left wing David Booth, centre Steve Reinprecht and a third round draft pick in 2013 from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm.

Makes no sense for the 'turds. Tanking to kill attendance in order to move?

Wow, the Caps soaked a rag in ether and put it under the Red Wings' noses. One of these years they'll be good enough that not even Boudreau can screw it up.

May be a "good faith" down payment for something later to come.

Nope.

Columbus had a 3-2 lead with under a minute to go.

They lost the game 4-3.

In regulation.

Yeah, I don't like that trade at all. I'd be pissed if TB made that kind of deal.

Florida was able to dump a player that was getting paid $2 million to play in the minors and they got rid of a contract that had 4 years left to get 2 players whose contracts expire at the end of the year. This team is going nowhere this year (unless they can convince the NHL to schedule the Lightning 76 more times) It gives them flexability in the future to sign their young talent and obtain other players. That's their motivation to make the trade.
