I seen that. He actually has Maata at 10. If the draft actually did somehow go down that way and Yzerman passed on Grigorenko in favor of Maata, I'd have to suicide bomb his house.

Why? Grigorenko smells like the next Zherdev/Filatov to many scouts.

I'd take Pouliot before I took Maatta or Ceci. Hell, I'd probably take Lindholm over Maatta or Ceci.

But has the skill to be WAY better than that. That's the kinda of skill you should take a gamble on.

But has the skill to be WAY better than that. That's the kinda of skill you should take a gamble on.

Zherdev and Filatov had all the skill in the world, too. The question is whether the player has enough heart to do something other than take the path of least resistance. Grigorenko hasn't proven that to anyone yet. I'm sorry, but if he drops to 10, I consider him radioactive.

In terms of lazyness/w ethic or flight risk? The latter I seriously doubt is an issue, considering he moved his family to Canada and took English classes 5 days a week to the point that he is now fluent. If its his laziness or attitude, that could explain why he might fall. But reading his bio and watching clips, I get the exact opposite, he is lauded for his two way game and his work ethic, but isn't physical and shys away from going to dirty areas. That doesn't bother me at all. Brad Richards shys away from that part of the game too.

I'd take him in a second. Filatov and Zherdov might have been Charmony soft, but that isn't what turned them into pariah's, it was their lack of commitment to defense, and taking shifts off. From what I've gathered, that isn't an issue with Grigorenko.

Probably a moot point, Toronto picks him.

Yeah. Filatov pulled a lot of theatrics to try to North Americanize himself, too. Like I said, radioactive. I'd have him marked NFU and off my board: Not For Us. If he somehow slipped to 19, then we'll talk.

I don't trust the prospect, and you can't swing a cat without hitting a great defenseman prospect, which is what we need, in this draft.

Did you just say Brian Burke will take a Russian with work ethic issues? Maybe evil Brian Burke from the alternate universe. We'll know the gig is up if he's sporting a goatee on draft day.

I suspect Galchenyuk (who really is an American) is the foremost object of Burke's wishes. Beyond that, I wouldn't be shocked if he reaches for Trouba.

Well, Grigs isn't suppose have work ethic issues. But lets say your right, I can't see them taking a defenseman. They dealt Aulie because of their defensive youth, supposedly. And they desperately need a franchise center. Assuming Forsberg is gone too, I think they would reach on Faksa before Trouba.

As for us, deal down or completely out if we are stuck with the runt of the litter. I've got a 60" plasma w/o warranty that I don't want to throw something through, I might just go to a bar and save myself.
