You can't swing a cat without hitting a d-man with good upside in the first 25-30 picks of this draft, and there's more quality d-men in the late 2nd and early 3rd.

They deuce on Subban's glove hand, btw. There's a line about every white board in the league saying to shoot high glove on him in the write-up. Scrambley too. Felt like I was reading Evgeny Konstantinov's scouting report.

I read the first 20 or so scouting reports on THN then looked up a few others. That was alarming on Subban, yes.

So many good dmen. Murray on TBL.com said good dmen are hard to find, so this is a good year. I could see them taking two dmen in the first round if they keep both picks.

I like Ceci more. Good offensive D with decent 2-way upside.

What I love about this draft - there's a bunch of Dmen to like.

Ceci looks good at 10 and a number of guys like Poiloit and Finn should be available at 19. I doubt we take any forwards til the second, the need for D is just too great.

Best player available please. Chances are given the depth at the position this year defense will be the choice but I always stand by the mantra of best player available regardless of "need" as the needs of today may not be the needs of tomorrow. But yes D is probably our most pressing need given the depth within the organization right now.

A D choice won't have anything to do with the NHL club or even the AHL club. The pipeline is weakest there, plus the fact that high end D prospects are hard to find, make it a logical choice for TB.
