GDT 11/26: Tampa Bay @ Washington

On the one hand, it's the first loss in awhile; on the other, this was a real test, and we failed. We looked like a bunch of younger brothers out there.

Whatever, we'll see what happens when we're back there Jan. 4 with (hopefully) VL and Gagne in the lineup.

Let's just hope and pray that SY will be looking for a goalie at the deadline. Don't know who is out there but they have got to be better than what we have.

With that said took advantage of the 3-0 lead and went to the movies and saw the best movie I have watched in a long long time.

This in no way was a goalie issue, the forwards and defense were outworked all game long.

Does not matter. Did you see how slow Smith was tonight going from east to west? Neither he nor Ellis is the caliber of goalie that will get this team to the promise land.

I don't think there was any way to get semin's goals someone has to be on them. Ellis is never fast, his positioning is what allows him to stop things. I think Ellis is much slower than Smith. I don't see anyone that would be available being better than either of them at the moment.

Sometimes your goalie has to be able to bail the team out. We don't have that luxury.

It's not Smitty's fault they were giving up 2-on-1's and allowing the Caps to make cross-ice passes through the box on the PP. The effort of the skaters tonight was terrible. Awful. Pathetic. They didn't win any skate races or puck battles.

17 shots on goal against Washington is a joke. They don't play any goddamned defense in DC. That's why we had 41 shots on them last time. But we actually showed up and had some effort, last time.

The second period tonight would've been a cause for a bag skate, if I was coach.
