DC reports... Connolly gained speed already working with Karn and an MRI came back clear on his hips.

Tyrell (see tampabaylightning.com) had some good things to say about Connolly.

Outstanding. RLR already said Connolly has great top end speed. If he gets the acceleration to go with it, nice. He's already got a good strong base and balance. Seems like most of the goal footage I've seen from PG, he's skating through defenders' stick checks. If he can start skating around some of those with some quickness, all the better.

Lindy from redwingscentral is reporting that Tampa will be replacing Atlanta in the Traverse city prospects tourny this season.

To follow up on that:

Connolly Putting Past Behind Him

One of the good parts:

Quote:
Tyrell, 19 at the time, played on the same line as Connolly full strength and on the power play with Prince George in 2008-09.

“Brett was always ahead of players his age in maturity,” Tyrell said. “On the ice, he had the confidence. I think he’ll be one step ahead of guys his age his whole life.”

Tyrell said Connolly has a good sense or humor off the ice and is very focused. On the ice, he is versatile.

“He’s not the thickest guy, but he definitely likes to get his nose dirty,” Tyrell said. “He’s an NHL-type player. I think everybody will be happy with him. If he has an open shot, he’ll score. He can put the puck in from anywhere.”

Connolly gained a lot from the short time with Tyrell.

We had instant chemistry,” Connolly said. “He kept me under his wing and was a great mentor for me.”
Future line in Tampa with speed to burn? Also, I think that clears up some questions about Connolly's personality and demeanor.

I'm gladdened to see this stuff, and to see Tyrell vouch for Connolly.

BTW, Kevin Quick checked in down 15 pounds from this time last year. He weighed in at 180. Good that he's not fat anymore. Bad that he's the second lightest d-man at the camp besides only the 17 year old Janosik.

Because Atlanta's ownership is cheap and Dudley doesn't want his precious Pokemon to get bruised.
