Toronto clinched second worst in the league tonight. We're likely picking 3rd, 4th, or 5th. The thing I also mentioned in the other thread is that Fowler's not a righty shot. If you take him, you're putting yourself in a position where either he or Hedman isn't going to be on the 1st PP unit.

You linked a reference that Fowler body checks and shoots like a pee wee. With that in mind alone, I wouldn't want him. Much rather have Gudbranson, Gormley or Pysyk. I did notice that Gudbranson and Pysyk is a right handed shot.

Could be a chance to package a reject and the pick and get something in return.

BOTTOM FEEDER WATCH updated:
EDM - 60 pts. - clinched 30th place TOR - 72 - clinched 29th place TBL - 74 FLA - 74 CBJ - 78 CAR - 78 NYI - 78 (This is the exciting April race to end the season we've all come to expect in Tampa Bay--after winning the cup five seasons ago? Embarrassing, is right.) Essentially we need a CEO, GM, coaches, goaltender, defensemen and forwards. Other than that, we're set. Mr. Vinik has a slate to clean, a mgmt. team and a hockey team to create from scratch except for #4, 9, 91 and 26, and six months to do it. Better get crackin'

A very, very scary proposition for opposing defenses ![]() Assuming we're not getting one of the top 2, I'm intrigued by Nino, even though our last Swiss was a miss. Think Nino has a little bit of Panik in his game? |

Blue Jackets slide in and are done. TBL, NYI and FLA all have two games left to play. (correction of any errors welcome)

FLA and TBL can't tie with 80 pts as we're playing each other in the last two games. 79 is possible though by trading OT wins..

Just to clarify, all non-playoff teams are in the lottery, but only the worst 5 teams can move uo to #1 because whoever wins the lottery only moves up 4 spots.
I really think outside of those top-two picks it's total bedlam. I think you take the guy that excites your gut, because by the objective metrics there isn't a hell of a lot of daylight between any of them. So, if it's me, those guys are Niederreiter and maybe Connolly. The other guy who piques my interest is Mikael Granlund. Red Line has him 7th. He's almost a point a game player in the SM-liiga at 17-18 years old, and he was an over a point a game player in the U20 WJCs. That isn't easy to do. But, he's a European (I'm completely scared off the Russians), and he's already been drafted by Dynamo Minsk. If there's no one at all who excites your gut, you consider trading out if anyone will give you an NHL roster player and/or some picks in next years draft.

Nino Niederreiter
Vladimir Tarasenko Brett Connolly Erik Gudbranson I'd be happy with any of these guys where we are gonna pick, but hopefully we win the lottery and end up #1. Maybe Bettman can rig it for our new owner the way he gave Sid to Mario ![]()
