Per the Arizona Republic.... TB requesting permission to speak with Tocchet for assistant position.

Pang was on 1450 the other day and said the same thing. He said that a deal will be announced when OK takes over handing Melrose his job. Pang said that it was Barrie that is high on Rick and made the request. Pang went onto say that permission was not needed as he is no longer under contract.......I do not know if he is or not. Pang said he has one more year of a very liberal probation to serve. The conditions are he must check in by phone.

Can someone explain to me why Barrie is so taken with Tocchet? did they play together? Holy cow he has done nothing of any importance with the Yotes that I can tell and the team is not all that good so why bring him here? I just do not understand this unless it is all a red herring because they are going after someone else. Of course maybe they need a bookie.
