While I really, really dislike Avery, I hope he recovers quickly. Getting his ass handed to him during a game is one thing, but I don't want to see anyone hospitalized. |

wasn't implying he made it up or read it wrong, TSN has a habit of repeatedly changing articles while keeping the same link. i'm guessing early reports were a lot graver than later ones.

I kind a agree with you. Fleury was also caught out of position a few times and by the luck of a Penguin the Rags didn't score. He worries me in those aspects and always have, more so when it comes to big games. The one issue the Pens have nearly always had was questionable goaltending. Even in the 2-0 shutout he had the Rangers really didn't get any big chances against him, and he just really wasn't tested. I thought the Rangers would be getting a ton more great scoring chances against him making the games tighter and we'd see more like the 5-4 game, with a 4-3 even a 6-5er or a 6-4er & etc. Thankfully for M.A. Fleury is that the Pens have a butt load of fire power going for them right now.

Indeed, and I saw another article now where the team is saying he was in pain but walked into the hospital on his own accord.

NY Daily News broke the news early this morning, saying that Avery was rushed to the hospital at 3am unconscious and not breathing. The Rangers say the real story is the doctor's examined him after the game, decided there was a problem and wanted to get a CAT and the doctor drove him to the hospital where he walked into the hospital unaided. Talk about sensationalizing by the media!! The NY media had him almost dead, and in reality they didn't even operate to remove the spleen. But that's what you deal with in NYC media, nothing but sensationalized news. It's extremely draining and I'm glad I've moved away from it 15 years ago.

Does anyone know why the penalty shot was called? Mara, I believe, didn't have a stick and he pushed Malkin. So, I don't understand why the call was made for a penalty shot. The yahoos on versus was saying that it was a good call. Any insight on it?

I thought it was only a penalty shot if the player couldn't get a shot off. He did just kind of fall before actually shooting the puck though. Not like it mattered. Malkin looked like he didn't care with that pathetic attempt. I think I could have stopped that and I've never played goalie in my life.

I'm stuck at work at our little landing strip out here in the woods. No TV but a computer. How'd those goals look scored on M.A. Fleury? Were they softies or good goals?
Not too worried. Rather the Pens sweep them but it'll give the Pitt fans a good cheer when they win the series in the Igloo. (if they don't win tonight that is) |
