But he was not a smart player overall and you had to wonder if he would be able to ever totally get it.

R2 was due to make 1 million. Miller will be making 525K. That is a savings of 475K.

Still going to miss him, he may be the nastiest player ever to lace on skates for us, along with the tools to get it done.

To be fair, you said a 2nd rounder. So maybe a kiss on the hand?

He couldn't hold on to the puck, and you got have 3rd/4th line guys that can do that.

Or shoot a one timer. Great trade in my mind.

Essentially traded what most deemed here as crap for crap with a savings of 500k and a pick. Miller looked mostly terrible in his stints with Anaheim and if he is any answer on the scoring line then we're in for a long season.
A decent third line guy but please lordy dont be one of our scoring line answers... |

He is and will be an option for the last Top6 spot with Downie, etc. Hopefully Tanguay is on the other side.
He had a good playoff for Anaheim and was good in the 08 Final when he made his NHL debut on their top line with Selanne and MacDonald. If you were expecting someone of Tanguay's ilk for R2, then you're mistaken. Getting a 2/3 tweener with decent upside and a top-90 pick for a guy who was most likely going to be either next to the old guy in the penalty box or up with Orville in the press box is a nice deal. We're (back) in a time with the franchise that cheap options to fill (final) holes are all that can be managed. |
