Yup, Boyle is a huge upgrade over Thompson, and I believe he was brought in with a playoff run in mind. For NY he played huge defensive minutes, was a key player in their last two playoffs. Big minutes from this guy against the opponents' top lines, defensive zone faceoff machine... nothing not to like with this guy. TBL's lineup is markedly improved over last year, I'd have to say if the D can jell, a strong run is in order for May....

Boyle was terrific in the playoffs. The exact kind of physical, defensive presence we need. I checked a NYR blog and some of those fans are losing their shit over Stralman and Boyle, using words like "catastrophic failure."

Watch the Rags trade Marty to the Oilers for some young talent, maybe like Benoit?

Default For Lightning pair, ALS challenge personal

This is so sad. It makes you realize that there are some really good people.

Quote:
Boyle has known Frates since the two met at Boston College when Boyle was playing hockey and rooming with three BC baseball players, and Frates was rooming with the manager of the Eagles hockey team while playing baseball there from 2002-07. Frates was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 and has since lost all control of his motor skills, including speech. He now is only able to communicate through eye-tracking software.

Yup. One of the worst things I can imagine for anyone...It got my sister 10 years ago, but she went quick..only 6 months after onset. So fast, I never got to see her...they were on a multi month trip to the northwest.

Back to Boyle,..wow what a great addition. And the guy can pot 'em too...
