Default Non-Lightning Free Agency - 2014 Day 1

I thought we might want some place to seperate out the non-lightning signings, to keep the other thread less cluttered...

3 + hours and counting....

Adjusted the title to reflect that. People here can be easily confused.

Not sure why it's hard to leave the hockey board for hockey, but please give it a shot

Dale Lamontagne @Dale_Lamontagne
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: ''The Wings will be offering Dan Boyle a two-year contract in the $11 million range.''

Love Danny, but man that seems high for his age. Getting a bad feeling about d-men contracts today...

The first big name is off the board! Defenseman Frederic St. Denis has re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets on a 2-way deal.

I do not think you can look at the price. We would be much better off if we sign him to 2 years than if we sign someone for 5-7 years.

Remember Dan still has a place here and loves the area. Michigan has high taxes also.

So you offer him 10.5. I would do that deal all day long.

I hope people realize it's not "hey you pay no taxes in FL!". They pay local taxes in each & every place they play.

Anyway, I am looking at the price, sorry. If that's what a 37 year old is getting, this is going to be an expensive day.

NHL.com has live coverage of free agency if anyone wants to watch it live.

Also Spezza is traded to Dallas
