Perhaps it's - "we'll trade our disappointment for your disappointment and call it even."

Not going to quibble, but Palat is money with Stamkos. Killorn-Filppula-Callahan is a puck possession monster.

Official Release
Quote:

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded forward Teddy Purcell to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Sam Gagner, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced tonight.

Gagner, 5-foot-11, 202 pounds, has played in 481 career games with Edmonton, recording 101 goals and 295 points. He was drafted sixth overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Purcell, 6-foot-3, 203 pounds, has played in 310 games with the Lightning since being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings on March 3, 2010. During his career in Tampa Bay he accumulated 67 goals and 203 points. Purcell also played in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Bolts, recording seven goals and 18 points.
Bare-bones as it gets.

Wow... Gagner is still just 24... seems like he's been around forever. We've got prospects older than him. Still just a kid.

Default Nmc

Just read that Gagner has a NMC that kicks in Tuesday and is in effect until July 1, 2015. If he's getting flipped, it's going to happen fast.

Default Crazy

Just trying to wrap my head around this, who else could be a dance partner for Gagner, since we have a short window to move him? Who needs a center like him? Maybe the Preds...hopefully.

McKenzie reporting that Gagner may be on the move to Arizona (who had to buy out Riberio for behavioral issues)....

Gagner + Connolly/etc for Yandle??

Sam Gagner seems destined to join the ranks of Kyle Quincey and Curtis McElhinney. NEVER FORGET.

That last bit gave me the lolz.
If Gagner is not being flipped it is a real head scratcher.
