Not even close. Yzerman said Thursday that it was going to take Drouin or Vasilevskiy to get the #1. By draft time at Friday, the offer that "made Tallon think hard" -- meaning it wasn't Drouin/Vasilevskiy -- was probably either (a) both 2014 1sts and Johnson/Palat or (b) 3 or 4 of our 1st's the next two years.
That bullshit of 2 1st's and our 2nd tier of prospects is out of touch with reality.
Tallon on TV said the "team with the late 1st's offer [translation=TBL] was close but needed to come up with some significant roster players since the 1sts were of lesser value than some of the other teams with higher picks.
So... when you think about the cost of what *you* would give up for the #1 overall, go back and put together a deal that would make you vomit. And then it's still probably too low. That's the reality of acquiring an elite level defenseman.
