Either the having to have the righty defensemen thing is overrated to SY or the price of getting one is too much. I personally think it's overblown. It's a nice thing to have, but if you can play, you can play anywhere on the ice.

Yzerman sells high and buys low. Absolutely amazing what he does. Not the perfect solution with Garrison being a lefty but honestly how could he turn this down? Top 4 Dman don't come cheap yet we get him for a 2nd

For instance, compare what we got for MSL to what Nucks got for Kesler with very similar situations.

That is stupid cheap. Was Garrison just no longer in the Canucks plans?

Oh my bad, just caught up on the cap stuff. Makes sense. How fortuitous!

You think since his twitter handle is GarrisonFive, he will get the #5? It's not like that number has been used in 4 years.

Sure, no one predicted Garrison, but this is great news for those of us who were expecting an overhaul of the blueline. I said Yzerman had to acquire two defenseman, and this looks to me like the first shoe dropping — tough, physical veteran defensive guy. Now let's get that righty point shot with good wheels, and we'll be all set. I still think that Matt Carle has trade value if we are willing to give him up for very little in return. The cap relief alone would make me thrilled to dump him for a late-round pick, but I think YZ can fetch a mid-rounder or maybe a mid-rounder and a b- or c-prospect.

Right now, I'm just enjoying the idea of Garrison and Gudas paired together. That is exactly what we need.

Even though Garrison is a lefty, he naturally plays the right-side.

Yzerman is gangsta

Garrison plays quite a bit on the right side and that's our weaker side so I expect they will put him on the right of Carle or Hedman. I think he'll be seeing alot of ice time, while I think Gudas may be on the 3rd pair with Brewer as Radko really wore down during the 2nd half last year.

So does this mean Boyle is in play as the more offensive specialist? Or do we swing for the fences with Green? Or Boychuk?
