Looking at our current roster I'd venture a guess and say these players won't be on the opening day Lightning roster next season:

Sami Salo: (UFA)- Older, slower, injury prone, too many cons to outweigh pros
Tom Pyatt: (UFA)- Decent depth but I think he will go somewhere for more opportunity to play
Teddy Purcell: (Trade)- Major disappointment and I can't see him staying after being relegated to the 4th line
Ryan Malone: (Buyout)- obvious reasons, and his play isn't worth a 4.5 cap
Mark Barberio: (Trade)- Should fetch a 6th from someone but I don't think he's in the core going forward
Keith Aulie: (Non Tendered)

I think we will see a surprise or two as well: Crombeen, Thompson or both, I could see shipped out and cheaper adequate replacements brought in

You really should be discussing the "next year" stuff in its own thread, otherwise people will want half this thread moved later.

It's funny, I've seen similar comments from quite a few people, not all of them TBL fans either. The League should be embarrassed.

A nice tweet from Cooper last night:

Bolts Nation, boys wanted nothing more than 2 play in front of u again. They gave everything they had. B proud of them! Thank u 4 everything

Sotnos, why don't we just close down a lot of these old threads and start some new threads for off-season discussions.

Time told, all right. And what a shameful tale.

What a fucking embarrassment.

Yzerman's gotta rebuild everything back there.
Again the stark contrast from the prevailing notion among a seemingly strong majority a short time ago about how it's the opposite.

Man, every day a new expression of the month. As in, "What in the absolute fuck--calm your tits, douche nozzle."

His Casper the Ghost impression in elimination playoff games...not even mildly impressive. This is the time to shine, when the team needed him most. The truly great players...your Lecavalier, your Richards, yes, even your pariahs like Crosby and St. Louis....their hallmark is they rise and make the big play at the big moment in the big game with everything on the line. So far,...still waiting for that from SS. Gobs of talent multiplied by dazzling skill, which gets stage fright and doesn't know how to step it up a level and come through in the clutch with the back against the wall. "I didn't trust my leg yet" after all the games he played on it at top speed is only going to carry him so far. This is the last game of the season--it's healthy, mentally forget it for a couple hours and push it anyway man. You got all summer to rest. (Plenty of spring, too.)

I count six full seconds he held him down in the corner. Then to call the ticky-tack little trip with two minutes left in a 3-3 elimination game? It's either complete lack of discernment, or it's bias. Perfect example of a tripping call you don't NEED to make to maintain integrity. When you just finished letting them act out a lengthy gay porn scene in the corner, you let that little notshit trip go too. It's not like it was crucial to the play. The verdict is in, I think it's pretty clear there's a legit question of game-fixing in this series. Something fishy going on, and it stinks really bad.

If by "they" you mean Montreal, you're absolutely right.

Not to lay the entire series debacle at the feet of Lindback, because he had moments of shining brilliance...but the softies he lets in speak to the inconsistency that makes him expendable...overpaid by double. If I'm FSY I absolutely let him walk an RFA. He got hot at season's end but didn't stay hot; makes dazzling, spectacular saves but allows easy goals = inconsistent. We don't need headstands, we need pucks not to go right through a guy in the playoffs. He did his best, but unfortunately, with the D we have, that isn't enough

It was a deserved facewash after that swan dive he took. I could read Stamkos lips saying to the ref "it was a dive" before he gave him a tasty glove to eat

I wouldn't be nearly as disappointed if there were positives from the series. There weren't many to be found. This is a HUGE win, mentally for this crew going forward, win or lose.

Game is never over until you quit and let it be over.
This x1000

For all of the negativity I've read through the 8 pages so far this was the most positive thing to take from this game

PLUS, more experience for guys like Hedman, Johnson, Palat, and Killorn (and Sustr, Brown, Kucherov etc etc.)?

Montreal's not going to get a hell of a lot better than they are right now and it still took the refs throwing two games for them to win 3 out of 4 games by 1 goal. Kudos to them, for that. I suspect they'll look back years from now and realize they shouldn't have pissed off a growing, young giant, though.
As always well said
