The game got ugly at the end of the second period and again in the late third with several roughing and misconduct calls. Fighting is not allowed in NCAA hockey.

Minnesota overcame two two-goal deficits and scored with less than a minute left in regulation to advance to the WCHA Final 5. Wilcox allowed three goals, two of which were scored on rebounds and one on a deflection.

The unseeded Wolverines swept out third-seeded WMU with a 5-1 win on Saturday. Witkowski and the Broncos will have to wait until next weekend to see if they earned an at large bid to the national tournament. WMU beat Michigan last year in the CCHA championship game.
