Default TB signs Scott Jackson

http://blogs.tampabay.com/lightning/...ing-sig-3.html

Says he was drafted, but says we gave him an entry level contract. I'm guessing he was never signed by the Blues, or did we trade for him? The name is not ringing a bell.

Correct. STL didn't sign him. Went undrafted as a re-entry.

One of my criticisms of the Feaster era has been the club isn't reaching out to plug holes on the farm with prospect free agent signings.

I didn't even know that we still could, lol. When was the last one, Ben Clymer?

Looking like perhaps he slots into the prospect hole that the non-signing of Dane Crowley left.

Hm .. one thing I was just wondering in the midst of signing half a million new players in the last few days ..

What is the 50 man contract limit looking like right now?

Yup. What they've done under Feaster is put them through a series of checkpoints. First, you go to Traverse City as an invitee - or - you're signed to an AHL ATO. From TC, you can earn a spot in the AHL camp. From AHL camp, you can earn an AHL contract. From their AHL performace, then can be determined to be an NHL possibility and signed to an NHL contract - like Paul Szechzura just was (and some day I'll learn how to spell his name).

When you have so many depth holes at the farm, though, or choose not to sign a pick (Crowley) or do something else with a pick (trade, David Carle), it makes sense to not spend a player asset in plugging that hole.

I hope this starts something.

I had 38 as of last night. Did we sign only 2 today?? So it might be 40 now but someone should check my numbers.

I have 41, but that's including RFAs Fletcher and Rosehill, as well as Lascek, who still has a year left but has bolted for Slovakia.

I'm not counting R2 yet.

(Note on that link - that's a rough depth chart and salary numbers need adjusting)

Well, I counted Lascek and have 40 total. I have not counted Rosehill, Fletcher or R2 because they haven't signed but I did count Stamkos.
