After a scoreless first period, Florida fell behind briefly before scoring four times in the second and three more times in the third to close out the first match in a three-game set against Colorado. The Eagles managed to keep the score within a goal heading into the final period but Alex Hutchings' breakaway goal, scored by gathering a loose puck and lifting a backhand deke over Colorado netminder Kyle Jones, gave the Everblades a 6-3 lead with roughly ten minutes to play. The Eagles struck again a few minutes later but Hutchings skated the puck into an empty net for his second of the game with Jones pulled for an extra attacker. Florida narrowly outshot the home squad 35-31 for the game. Both teams scored a power play goal and were a combined 2-9 with the man-advantage. Daniel Milan, in the lineup for the third-straight game, registered his first goal of the season when he threw the puck from the corner towards the Colorado net and it fortuitously redirected into the net off of Jones. Maxime Langelier-Parent remains inactive for the Everblades. Florida (7-6-3, 17 PTS) and Colorado (6-7-3, 15 PTS) square off again Friday night.

Alaska Aces 1 @ Idaho Steelheads 2

F Nate Thompson, AK: 0-0-0, -1, 2 SOG, 0 PIM
Season totals: 16 GP, 4-8-12, E, 16 PIM

Trailing 2-0 entering the third period, Alaska managed to mount a furious 16-shot comeback attempt and get within a goal but, after a last-second game-tying goal was waived off, its winning streak came to an end at six games Wednesday night. Josh Robinson, who finished the game with thirty total saves (the bulk of which came over the last two frames), was superb in net for the Steelheads and his counterpart, Mark Guggenberger, in turning aside all but two of Idaho's twenty-eight shots, was solid at the other end as well. Alaska's trio of NHL forwards (Crabb, Gomez and Thompson) put up a combined nine shots on goal but were held pointless. Brandon Dubinsky, injured several weeks ago in a win over Las Vegas, is still out of the lineup nursing a broken hand. Alaska (11-5-0, 22 PTS) will begin a weekend showdown with Utah (6-7-1, 13 PTS) on Friday.
