Default Rays/MLB 2017

Rays sign FA C Wilson Ramos...

Coming off ACL surgery, hopes to be ready by June. Former All Star, so that's a definite upgrade over what we had.

The Houston Astros have hired Todd Kalas as their new play-by-play announcer.

Quote:
Todd Kalas, who was born in Houston as his father, the late Hall of Fame announcer Harry Kalas, was beginning his storied big league broadcasting career with the Astros in the mid-1960s, will return to his birthplace as the Astros' new play-by-play announcer on Root Sport Southwest.

Kalas will join returning analyst Geoff Blum in the TV booth as the successor to Bill Brown, who retired at the end of the 2016 season, the Astros announced Thursday.

"Houston is the first place I saw baseball," Kalas said. "It's incredibly special to be coming back to the city and working for the team where Dad got his start. I'm excited to be part of the Houston community and to be part of this incredible Astros team."

Rays have traded Logan Forsythe for one of the Dodgers top SP prospects, Jose De Leon...

Marc Topkin ‏@TBTimes_Rays 9m9 minutes ago

BREAKING: #Rays have agreed to trade Forsythe to #Dodgers for DeLeon. Will be announced soon.

Not sure who will play 2B, but DeLeon could be at least our #2 SP in the near future, may be pushing as a #1 if we trade Archer and/or Odorizzi. Maybe they move Miller to 2B now. I'm kinda liking this deal, even though I really like Forsythe as a spark plug player. We got him for cheap and flipped him for a top prospect SP. #RaysWay

I would think Miller moves to 2nd and you grab one of the remaining first base free agents (Chris Carter or Mike Napoli if you can afford him). Miller was moved off short because of his arm. Second base would fix that.

I think this is what Rays fans are hoping for.

Rays principal owner Stuart Sternberg still expects to conclude the search for a new stadium site in the Tampa Bay area this year, but revealed Thursday that they have been denied their top choice, or even top two.

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseb...s-will/2317697

Why do I have this feeling they will be moving?

The top two picks have got to be the Vinik property and the Tampa Park Apartments next to Ybor that the Long Shoremens Union owns with an investment company.
