Glad to have him locked up but that is a lot of money for a goalie and some teams have regretted putting that much into that position.

So, if I remember correctly, that doesn't kick in until after his current contract runs out, right???

Yeah maybe. If Vasi hits his ceiling I think we will be fine. You would have to think it spells the end of TJ, Palat and Killorn sooner rather than later. I don't envy JBB's task in managing the cap next season.

Correct. Kicks in next year.

Killorn’s NTC ends next summer. He’s gone. Callahan & Carle come off the books. Rutta’s contract expires and is replaced with a less expensive Foote.

TJ and Palat’s full NTCs don’t end until 21.

Have to think one of them goes to Seattle (along with a draft pick(s) to encourage the choice).

Regardless, this just cements that this will be the last season this roster looks like it does now.

For the core group of Stamkos, Kucherov, Johnson, Palat, Killorn, Hedman, Coburn, Paquette and Vasilevskiy, this is their last kick at the can.

Good solid contract. Pice getting $10.5M when cap was a lot less. If you are arguably the best at your position and that is THE most important position on your team and you are in your prime and you are young you get the the money.

If you haven't gouged your eyes out from having watched Johan Holmqvist and his mid .800's save percentage flail about randomly on the ice in the playoffs, there is no way you could possibly appreciate this contract.

All of them, except Killeen, will probably be back next year too. This group has a 2 year window.

And I think Carle's 1.8 mil is off the books at the end of this season.
