One of a few unexpected bright spots this year. His uncanny ability to get to the puck is amazing......and he just keeps getting better at it. He is a player that could care less about the other players size, he just gets in there and gets the puck and then knows what to do it it when he gets it.

That is exactly why I think he needs to go up on Vinny's wing and stay there.

In response to those (including myself) who are slightly concerned at Slumpkos in the past few games (highlight-reel goal notwithstanding) -- there's continued speculation that his wrist is bothering him.

They've been failing to cover the back door plays far too often recently. I don't know what changed, but they better figure it out quick.

"Slumpkos" had a 4 game point streak going into last night, and that was only his 4th game without a point all season.

Tocchet's take:
Quote:
But more important, to coach Rick Tocchet it didn't seem like everyone came to play. "I'm disappointed," he said. "A couple of our top guys did not show up."

Tocchet did not mention names, but consider:

Captain Vinny Lecavalier was invisible below the hash marks. Wing Alex Tanguay had zero shots. Center Steven Stamkos had one. And though left wing Ryan Malone had 10 hits, he also had just one shot.

The best line: Halpern with Steve Downie and James Wright.

"Steve Downie was probably our best forward tonight," Tocchet said. "He had some tenacity. He tried."

I don't follow other teams as closely as TB. Do other teams have this motivational issue season after season after season? It seems like this problem dogs TB far too often.
