They aren't trading Miller.

If they get Karllson then Gourde is probably going to be a casualty as either part of the trade or in the off-season because he is a UFA after this 2018-2019 and will need a pretty significant raise from his current $1M.

The only players that can be traded right now with a salary of more than $1 million are

Coburn, Stralman, McDonagh, Domingue, Callahan, Miller & Kucherov

Obviously some of those aren’t going to be traded, but all of them could be traded.

The Kucherov NMC starts in 20/21 and goes through 23/24. From 24/25 to 26/27 he has a modified NTC where he can list 10 teams to be traded to.

Karlsson trade can get done and cap space is there for 2019-2020 to keep core intact with Point getting bridge contract and extracting Callahan, Coburn and Girardi. Bet they keep Stralman at short term and less AAV. Experts say next yesr’s cap will again go up by $4-5M. Yzerman’s strategy looks strong. Suspect Point gets signed before season starts.

Pretty good article from ESPN on Kucherov, they think its a good deal.

I do too, but.....like David Price pitching for the Red Sox, doesn't matter what you do in the regular season as heros are made in the post season.
We all know what happened against the Caps in the ECF.

I think the question is, can Kucherov provide a Mark Messier type performance when we really need it?
