Default Lightning 2009 Picks

In light of the trade deadline today:

First - 1 (TB)
Second - 2 (TB, PHI [Picard/Prospal])
Third - 1 (FLA - 09 deadline/Eminger) (TB to Pitt - Roberts/Malone; SJ's pick - previously to TB in 08 pick swap* - to Philly [Carle])
Fourth - 1 (TB - which was sent to Philly [Prospal rights] and back [Carle]), CAR [Jokinen]; TB sends previously acquired DAL pick to Minny - Rolston. One of these was sent to Toronto in the draft pick buying/salary dump).
Fifth - 0 (TB sends pick to PIT for Sersen)
Sixth - 1 (NAS [Tarnasky])** (TB sends its pick to PHI for Niskala)
Seventh - 1 (TB)

*Tampa Bay previously acquired this pick as the result of a trade on June 21, 2008 that sent a 3rd round pick in 2008 to San Jose in exchange for a 4th round pick in 2008, a 5th round pick in 2008 and 2009 3rd.
**Sixth becomes a fifth if Tarnasky plays 55 games (he's played 27 with 18 left, so it won't happen)

Isn't it two 2nd round picks? The 2nd in the Recchi deal is in 2010.

From what I remember we sent the Carolina pick in the Toronto trade.

I've seen a lot of people wishful for Hedman. As things stand now (notwithstanding any of the dynamic, superstar signings we are going to see in the offseason), would Hedman be your first choice? I wasn't sure if that desire for Hedman was overall or because everyone thinks the second pick is more likely. I guess what I'm trying to get at (in my usual longwinded manner) is if we happened to end up with the 1st pick, do you take Tavares or Hedman?

Tavares.

But I don't think there's any way TB gets the No.1 two years in a row.

Just because of the slim odds of that happening or you genuinely think it's rigged?

Mostly the odds, but I still raise an eyebrow to the other.

Yeah, i think you take Tavares... OR, you tell the Isles, hey, you want Tavares bad? Give us San Jose's No. 1 there that you got from Ottawa and we can flip.
Then you add a pick and take Hedman.
I really do think if Hedman is on the board, our scouts and management have to make absolutely sure he is the kind of guy who will come in, be happy here like Stammer, and be onboard to slowly help this team out of the gutter. If he doesn't really wanna be here or will be asking for more money than Stammer's bonuses or wants to stay in Europe and play a year or two, our guys have to ABSOLUTELY know what he is all about.
I just don't want to pick him and to be trying to pry him out of Europe for a couple years.

I think it's at least partially rigged, especially the first pick.
