Stamkos pointless in his last 6 playoff games.

The sad thing is, they know what to do to fix it before the game, but are powerless to do anything about it. They are built for the regular season but not the playoffs. All the fancy shit, the tic tac toe passing, the drop passes when you have a break away, the passing up a shot to try and make a risky pass all go away when the playoff bell rings. Like someone said, we are the new San Jose Sharks. That sound you heard was the window being shut.
The year the Caps won was the year everyone was declaring their window shut, so...

I agree we need changes, though. Just hope JBB is ready to evaluate things seriously and not just panic or stand pat.

‘Tis true... count me as one of them.... but what was their big difference that put them over?

The big difference was that the Caps were no longer the best team. The best team in the NHL rarely wins the championship. It's just one of those weird things about the NHL. In every other major sport, the best team usually at least makes it to the championship.

We clinched the best record in 73 games, so I don't know how it can be said the team doesn't have to talent to get passed the first round. What does that leave as the problem? The system the team plays, the coaching? Good coaching gets the most out of the players. Cooper's getting next to nothing out of his dominant regular season roster. They've barely been in the last two games, like a boxer spending the entire fight on the ropes.

Don't know if anyone else has pointed this out, but our leading point scorer in the postseason is Erik Freaking Cernak with 3, while Stammer, Kuch, Point, Hedman and McDonagh have 0. Stammer is a clear last on the team with a -5.

Mostly because playoff hockey is an entirely different sport with a different rule book.

Totally disagree. The game is called different in the play-offs. Always has been.
