SJ - Matt Carle and a 1st - good
CHI - Cam Barker and a 1st - just as good (much higher pick)
MON - Michael Ryder, Francios Boullion and a 2nd - have to consider

Ryder's a UFA and has pulled a Fedotenko/Ouellet this year.

Skille or Bolland into the mix from CHI.

I can't, for the life of me, imagine why Chicago would do that. But bring it on!!!!.
I could see if they absolutely knew they would sign Boyle. But if not, they are making a real big mistake. Because they are more likely to get the first pick than make the playoffs.
Heck, throw in Kuba to the deal. Kuba and Boyle for Barker, a No. 1 and a No. 4

A top tier prospect and a top 5 pick for Boyle? I love you Danny but pack your bags

Hafta wonder if the news of the sale now affects Boyle being signed and for what monies. He stated himself that he knows the potential new owner wanted him here so we shall see I guess

Yep. The way OK sounds is he wants to try to turn the team around as quick as he can. That would be a winning team, the type Danny Boyle talked about. The Bolts should be easy to turn around because of the core of guys they have.
He gets this team to start winning again, and I wont be so grumpy about making trips all the way down from Jacksonville!

If they do re-sign Boyle for a few years between 6-7 million, it makes me wonder what kind of team will be in place around that core. Exciting that Boyle will still be around, but OK has made no comments about how much he'd be willing to spend as far as the cap is concerned.

It's a nice core for sure, but I don't want a bunch of Andreas Karlsson's surrounding them.

Excellent point, but 'ol sentimental Jay Feaster would have no problem giving his boy Danny $6.5-7M (and thereby furthering our broken salary structure). Jay doesn't negotiate with FAs ... he's a giver!

But seriously, I say you offer Boyle the same $6M that Rafalski is getting. The idea that the market HAS to go up every year is madness. If that's not enough money for Dan Boyle to stay with the team that gave him a shot, the community that he has some deep ties to now and the team (and teammates) that he supposedly loves (or even likes) to play for ... then he can go, and we can rebuild responsibly with a nice, young NHLer and a high draft pick.

If we extend Boyle, even at the $6M I'm suggesting, it pretty much requires Koules to pony up to the cap maximum in order to ice a competitive roster next season. I mean, Boyle is wonderful, but we still have to address the goaltending somehow.

Decisions, decisions.

Not only will Koules have to pony up, but we as the ticket buyers will have to do the same.

I hope some of the financed money is to cover "losses" from not raising prices next year. Performance doesn't deserve it.
