Default GDT 10/25/08: Sharks @ Lightning

I'm doing it again... starting a GDT before the game day....

but... per EE, here's some of the lineup changes for the Sharks game from Melrose.

Mike Smith gets the start.

Vrbata and Craig out with groin injuries. Ward will get the start over Matt Pettinger. Can someone say showcase?

Malik will be in the lineup, but Melrose needs to smoke a cigar before deciding who on the blueline will be scratched.

The defensive pairings were all over the place at Friday's practice. The forward lines were:

Prospal - Lecavalier - St. Louis
Malone - Stamkos - Recchi
Roberts - Jokinen - Artyukhin
Hall - Gratton - Ward

Hope he doesn't get his cigars from Santonio Holmes...

With all the cigar references I think we need a cigar emote to go with these:

Love those line combinations except I want Arty on a feature line by the end of the season.

Realistically, you could just put 4 defenseman out there with Arty and probably still score as much as the 4 lines have scored this season. Arty for President!!

Does Jason Ward really need to be showcased after being passed over by every team in the league?? Every one knows what he can't do...

I think Stamkos is going to score tonight.

Why in the hell is Gary Roberts playing on the third line? Gah, I dont want to see that old turd playing on Jussi and Arty's line. This is not what I paid money for lol

After a late night out on the patio....

Melrose says that Niskala will be scratched in tonight's game against the Sharks. "Niskala, probably his weakness is physically against big forwards and San Jose has a ton of those," coach Barry Melrose said.

Hmmmm... And Mike Lundin is some kind of poster child of physically matching up against big forwards?
