This was a tough game to watch. I missed most of the first period and recorded the rest. When I was able to watch the game, I ended up fast forwarding through most of it. Their play was boring and uninspired.

It's time for Recchi, Vinny and Roberts to stand up and light a fire under this team. I don't like Roberts, but he was brought in to provide veteran leadership.

Oh, play Stamkos!

Take THAT, Roberts-haters!

Kolzig was not at fault for the first two goals. Whoever said they were both point-blank is right. The lazy backcheck and terrible line changes caused both of them to happen. Now way in hell you should EVER see a guy stand unmolested at the wall, wait for his entire team to skate into the zone and then find a trailing defenseman all alone (no backchecker in sight) and then allow him to skate right into the slot and fire one-on-one with a helpless goalie. Jesus Christ, that is like the perfect storm of bad hockey. Enough blame for everyone. The third goal, however, was on Olie.

And even though Eminger had that -3, in this game he still looked far more effective than Matt Carle. Smart trade ... if Meszaros or Ranger can start getting some damn point shots through.

I just wonder... if some other coach were to come in and take over tomorrow, what would they say about guys like Roberts, Stamkos, Vrbata, etc? I mean, Melrose is pretty dead set on his opinions of why and when certain guys should be playing, but I could just see someone else stepping in and saying "To heck with it -- get the best players on the ice and the underachievers on the 4th line or in the press box."
