Hearing that Johnson flew with the team and drove himself home. Doesn't mean he's fit to play necessarily but it's not as bad as it could be.

No suspension proceedings for Pateryn.

Wait what? Am I wrong in thinking it was an after whistle crosschexk/slash/boarding that resulted in an injury to a star player? I didn't even watch last night and just did a quick watch of the hit, but what am I missing ?

His skate caught a rut, so in a sense the severity of the injury wasn't really caused by Pateryn. To me it doesn't change the fact that this shove was unnecessary and nothing would have happened without it. I don't think it deserved more than a game though, and he did miss the rest of that game at least. I don't know. I do think it's a tricky one to punish because I'm sure he didn't mean to affect Johnson THAT badly, but at the same time it's just so ridiculous what he did.

Agree Hoek. It was a reckless, careless, and totally undisciplined after-the-whistle move. And lets think about it this way: as edgy as 13, 24 and 46 are, do you feel that any of them would have made the same move? Have they or any of the Bolts made such a move that you can remember?? There may be an exception, but I think the resounding answer is a big fat NO.

And as much as I am amused by Cherry's histrionics, he can bite the big one when he says that players should "watch out when you're near the boards". What a dumbass statement, given the fact it was clearly after the whistle.

Joe Smith ‎@TBTimes_JSmith

#tblightning Yzerman said Tyler Johnson is day-to-day with the upper body injury he suffered Saturday in Montreal. Will he be ready by Wed?

#tblightning Yzerman indicated Tyler Johnson could be ready by Game 1 against #RedWings. Good news for Tampa Bay after how bad it looked.

It looked like head and shoulder hit the boards at the same time. That saved him from big concussion. But, I'll bet he is really sore in his neck area. Get out the high octane linament.
