I've known college educated Republicans who don't understand how Social Security works. It's the same as Republicans who rail against government health care but threaten to cut the politician who takes away their Medicare. The tribal conditioning against anything that's a government program and lack of basic civic knowledge are a dastardly witches brew.

James Harris, who wrassled under the name "Kamala" just died.

Suffice it to say this has caused some havoc on Twitter.

Trump potentially killing the college football season with his COVID incompetence ought to be cultural grounds enough in places like Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Ohio to doom him politically.

This is wild if even remotely true.

Quote:
* Yes, absolutely, of course, campaign polling results are naturally suspect, but this looks interesting: Trump, 48%; Biden, 46% in the 1st Congressional District in results of a survey of 400 likely voters shared by the Kate Bolz congressional campaign. Biden with a big 15-point lead in Lancaster County, fueled by Lincoln.
https://journalstar.com/legislature/...f3537b491.html

NE-01 is not the district that's supposed to be competitive in Nebraska. NE-02, which includes urban Omaha, I actually suspect will go for Biden in the General Election. NE-01 includes the exurban and rural areas west of Omaha and includes the big college town Lincoln. It's got a PVI of +11 and Trump won it in 2016 by 22%. Putting 2016 aside, the closest a Democrat has gotten there recently was Obama losing it by 10% in 2008.

However... if Biden's winning by 8-10% nationally, and the PVI is +11, maybe it's not out of the realm of sanity for Biden to only be down mid to low single digits in this district?

To be clear, he's not winning this district. What I'm pointing out posting these district level polling results is that the local polling is lining up with the concept of Biden being up high single digits to low double digits nationally.

It ought to be, but the rubes won't buy it. You already have them adopting Trevor Lawrence as the poster boy for the Let Us/Them Play! group and spinning tales of doom and gloom for the schools and their respective city economies if the season is cancelled.

And yes, it will absolutely devastate said economies and athletic departments, but whose fault is that? Nah, they'll just blame the liberal hoax for wanting everyone to live in fear omg the flu!! The NCAA is walking that fine line of having to act as if they give a shit about player safety and yet not wanting to finally admit to the world that they are nothing more than a glorified feeder system into the NFL with the capability of actually paying these players a wage that could potentially cover their risks of playing meaningful games during a pandemic.

What really drives me nuts are the racist assholes coming out with their "concern" about the environment these players would have to go back to if not for the safe place of college football (basically, unless you get to stay on the safe confines of campus, you're headed back to the crime-ridden filth of the ghetto where you'll be dodging crackheads and bullets as opposed to pass rushers and wide receivers). A month ago these same players wanted to talk about Black lives and they were told to just shut the hell up and play. Now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe Tuscaloosa Tommy and Gainesville Gene give a rats ass about where these kids came from? Oh please.

If only there was a large organization with endless supplies of cash that could help bail out and prop up the municipalities in this time of crisis...

Safe to say the NCAA will follow in FIFA's footsteps of "Sorry to hear your domestic league has multiple teams going belly up during these trying times but that couple billion we have in the bank is for a rainy day, not a global pandemic."
